The exact chemical composition of marble will greatly vary dependong on the location and the minerals or impurities present in the limestone during recrystallization. Typically, marble is composed of the following major constituents: 3842% Lime (CaO), 2025% Silica (SiO2), 24% Alumina (Al2O3), % various oxides (NaO and MgO), and 3032% various carbonates (MgCO3 and others).
